Don’t forget scale

When choosing accessories, you should also consider your scale (i.e. height).  It’s especially important if you are Petite or Tall.

This is because wearing a large accessory can swamp a petite frame and likewise, a small accessory can make a taller frame appear bigger.  Which is the opposite of the balance you are seeking to create.

Colour choice matters

Wearing the right colour tone of accessory, especially up against your face, will give you a healthy glow.  This includes the colour of the frames of your glasses.

We’re normally at our palest during the Autumn and Winter periods so it’s even more noticeable if you wear colour tones which don’t suit you.

For your bags, boots and shoes, for both Work & Rest capsules choose your best dark neutrals (i.e. Black / Navy / Charcoal / Brown) and also your best light neutrals (i.e. White / Soft White / Ivory / Cream).

For your Play Capsule, choose a colour tone within your palette that complements your style personality.

Your choice of jewellery

Did you know, your complexion is either better suited to silver, white gold and platinum, or gold, rose gold and bronze?

For metal jewellery like necklaces, earrings and bracelets, make sure to choose your best metal – especially in our paler months.

“Best” in terms of the metal which complements your skin complexion.

Top Tips for Autumn / Winter

I recommend you hang your scarf and gloves with your preferred coat or jacket.  So, you can be ready to get out of the door in a blink.

To help, I recommend these little hangers as they do not take up too much space and keep your accessories tidy when not in use:

Take care of your accessories and the majority will last many years.

Anything that’s wool should be washed sparingly.  This is because the natural fabric has oil within it that regulates your heat so keeping the oil in the wool.  Washing will remove that oil and its’ effect over time.  So, it’s better to leave to dry naturally in fresh air, perhaps with a quick spray of fabric freshener to help avoid unnecessary washing.

In fact, I recommend you do this with all any natural wool items you have, including coats to jumpers.

Indoor scarves are another great way to keep warm inside your home, and I have added a short video showing lots of clever ways to tie them:

Finally, if (like me) you sometimes want to use your mobile phone (like to take a photo), but you cannot cope without wearing gloves because it is so cold, here is a link to Amazon for some ‘touch screen’ gloves:
