Powder pink colour trend for Spring Summer 2025

1. Powder Pink

Soft, powdery pink hues are making a significant impact on the season ahead, offering a delicate and feminine touch to various outfits.  This colour is so versatile, it will appear in everything from tailored suits to casual wear.

2. Bubble Hems

The playful bubble hem is experiencing a resurgence, adding volume and a whimsical flair to skirts and dresses.

This silhouette brings a sense of fun and bounce to summer wardrobes.

This design hemline is great for an Inverted Triangle, Hourglass and Lean column shape.

3. Sharp Tailoring

Emphasizing structure and precision, sharp tailoring is prominent this season. Think crisp and neat trousers with well-fitted blazers and defined shoulder detail, creating a polished and professional look.

This is amazing for all body shapes, however do make sure you keep your shoulder width in line with your hips, so if you’re an Inverted Triangle, make sure you create a bit more volume around your hips.

4. ’90s Plaid Pattern

Nostalgic ’90s plaid patterns are back, infusing outfits with a grunge-inspired edge.

From skirts to oversized shirts, this trend offers a blend of comfort and style.

This is an ideal pattern for the rectangular body shapes like Column and Lean Column and also for an Inverted Triangle.

5. Little White Vest

The minimalist little white vest top is becoming a staple, celebrated for its simplicity and versatility.  It’s an essential piece that can be dressed up or down, suitable for numerous occasions.

Having a perfect vest top is an essential.  The best neckline for all shapes is a V-neck.

6. Capes

Capes have emerged as a notable trend, adding drama and elegance to ensembles.

Seen on red carpets and runways, they offer a modern twist to traditional outerwear.

Ideal for those with square shoulders and Inverted Triangle, Column and Apple body shapes as they bring balance by softening your shoulder line.

The Dress

The Spring / Summer 2025 season introduces a variety of dress trends that blend classic styles with contemporary twists.

Here’s what you will see:

1. Strapless Dresses

Making a notable comeback, strapless dresses are being reimagined with minimalist designs and bold textures.

You’ll find heart-shaped necklines with chiffon and other ‘see through’ fabrics, adding a playful element to traditional silhouettes.

This design complements most body shapes.  Just keep your shoulders and hips in vertical line for best effect.

My top tip is to take a full length photo when standing in front of a mirror to check you’ve created that balanced effect.

2. Lingerie-inspired Dresses

The lingerie trend continues to influence dress designs, with elements such as corsetry and lace becoming prominent.

Brands like Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana have incorporated these features, offering a seductive yet sophisticated aesthetic.

3. Asymmetric Designs

Asymmetry is gaining traction, with dresses featuring one-shoulder styles, uneven hemlines, and unique cut-outs.

This approach introduces a fresh and contemporary feel to traditional dress forms.

Particularly good for an Inverted Triangle and if you have square shoulders as this design balances your shoulder line.

If you are tall (i.e. 5ft 7in / 170cms and above) an asymmetric design on tops, skirts and dresses creates interest and balance by breaking up your height.

The Skirt

Bubble Hem skirt - Spring Summer fashion trend 2025

These trends offer a range of options to refresh your skirt collection for the upcoming season, ensuring both style and comfort.

Here’s what you will see:

1. Mini Skirts

Shorter hemlines are making a significant comeback, offering a youthful and dynamic look.

From classic denim to bold patterns, mini skirts are versatile and can be styled for various occasions.

Pair them with tights and boots during cooler days or evenings, transitioning to bare legs and sandals as temperatures rise.

Remember to choose colour tones which complement your skin tone for best effect.

Minis are great for Petite and Average height ladies in particular as these elongate your legs.

2. Bubble Hems

Adding playful volume, bubble hem skirts are gaining popularity.  This silhouette brings a touch of romance and can be found in both mini and midi lengths.

Suitable for casual outings or more formal events.

Midi lengths are especially great for ladies of average height (5’3″ to 5’7″) and above.

3. Double-Layer Skirts

Featuring attached layers that add depth and intrigue, double-layer skirts offer a modern twist to traditional designs.

These skirts are becoming a staple in fashion-forward wardrobes, providing a chic and sophisticated aesthetic.

This design will create more volume so ideal for an Inverted Triangle, Lean Column, Column and Apple shape.

4. Transparent Fabrics

Sheer skirts are emerging as a bold trend, incorporating transparent materials that add a subtle allure.

Often embellished with embroidery or lace, these skirts can be layered over slips or shorts for a balanced and elegant look.

5. Denim Maxi Skirts

Combining comfort with style, denim maxi skirts are ideal for transitional weather.

Features like front slits add practicality and ease of movement, making them a versatile addition to your spring wardrobe.

The Trouser

The trends below reflect a dynamic approach to trouser styles for Spring/Summer 2025, balancing comfort, functionality, and a nod to past fashions.

Here’s what you will see:

1. Slim-Fit Revival

After a recent period dominated by oversized silhouettes, slim-fit trousers are making a notable return.

Look out for subtly tapered trousers which offer a clean and polished look. This shift invites the exploration of various forms of slim-fit tailoring, including skinny-fit and close-cut ‘cigarette’ pants.

Great for an Hourglass, Lean Column or Column shape.

2. Skirt-Over-Trousers Hybrid

Fashion’s affinity for hybrids continues with the skirt-over-trousers combination.

This trend has been spotted in both sporty fabrics and heritage wools, providing a fresh layering approach for the season.

Pear shaped ladies should avoid this design, however it’s great for all other body shapes.

3. Slouchy Straight-Leg Trousers

Comfort meets style with slouchy straight-leg trousers. Offering versatility as it can be worn for various occasions.

Please keep your shoulders in line with your hips and if you’re Petite, beware this design as it can swamp you, making you look shorter.  However, wearing platform shoes is a way to counter balance and stay on trend.

4. Streamlined Cargo Trousers

Utility-inspired trousers are being reimagined with a streamlined aesthetic.

Functional elements combined with sleek designs make these trousers both practical and stylish for the modern wardrobe.

Ideal for an Hourglass, Inverted Triangle, Column and Apple shape.

The Fabric

The fabric trends below reflect a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.

Here’s what you will see:

1. Natural Fibres

There’s a continued emphasis on natural materials, including linen, hemp, regenerative cotton, and lightweight wools.

These fabrics not only offer breathability and comfort but also align with the growing demand for more sustainable and eco-friendly fashion.

2. Metallics

Metallics are back in fashion, with bright and vivid iridescent hues, as well as ethereal and pearly opalescent tones.

These fabrics add a futuristic and dynamic element to summer ‘play’ wardrobes.

3. Textured and Decorative

After many seasons favouring minimalist aesthetics, there’s a resurgence of interest in richer textiles featuring textured surfaces, voluminous structures, and bold, oversized motifs.

This trend highlights a desire for artisanal and decorative elements in fashion.

4. Upcycled and Recycled

Sustainability is here to stay so more designers are now incorporating upcycled and recycled fabrics into their collections.

Repurposed denim and regenerated polyester offer a more eco-friendly option that doesn’t compromise on style.

5. Sheer and Lightweight

Sheer fabrics, such as chiffon and tulle, are prevalent, providing a light and airy feel suitable for the warmer months.

These materials add a delicate and romantic touch to various garments.

6. Small Prints and Gingham Patterns

There’s a notable trend towards small-scale prints, including florals, ginghams, and stripes.

These designs offer a subtle yet charming aesthetic, perfect for both casual and formal attire.

Next Steps

Well constructed capsule wardrobe

When it gets warm enough, take out from storage all your Spring / Summer clothing and check everything is fitting nicely and that you are still happy with each item.

Remember if you’ve lost or gained weight you may have changed body shape.

If so, I recommend alterations as the first option if you’ve gone down in size and consider selling if it’s in good condition but no longer fits.

If anything is worn out or no longer meets your lifestyle needs, it’s maybe time to retire the item.

This then becomes your guide to your new season shopping ‘wish list’.

If you’ve already organised your wardrobe into your lifestyle capsules (i.e. one for Work, one for Rest and one for Play) you will more quickly see the gaps.

Also, have a think about the season ahead.

Do you have any special events planned?

Has there been any changes to your lifestyle?

As these answers will help focus your buying needs.
